Marvel Movie Connections:
The Tesseract, the object of power sought by the Red Skull, is referred to as ‘the gem of Odin’s treasure room.” The place he finds it also has a carving of the World Tree, from Viking Mythology (and seen in the movie Thor). The Tesseract’s location also appears to be an ancient Viking stronghold.
At the World’s Fair we see and exhibit for professor Horton’s Synthetic Man, which is a man in a bubble wearing a red outfit. This is the original Human Torch, who appeared in the very first Marvel Comic in 1939. This is also interesting as the Fantastic Four’s Human Torch was played by Chris Evans, the star of this film. Also, to date the rights to Fantastic Four are with 20th Century Fox, which currently limits how much the original synthetic Human Torch can be on film, or at least referred to as the Human Torch.
Howard Stark, Tony Stark/Iron Man’s father, plays a prominent role in the film. He designs Captain America’s final uniform, weapons, and Shield.
Captain America works with the SSR, Strategic Scientific Reserve, possibly a precursor to S.H.I.E.L.D.
